The Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan, also known as Honbu Dojo, represents the headquarters of the Aikikai Foundation. Aikido in the style of the founder Morihei Ueshiba is still taught there to this day. The Hombu Dojo, whose full name is Zaidan Hojin Aikikai Dojo Tokyo, is still owned by the Ueshiba family and is located at the same address where Morihei Ueshiba opened the Kobukan Dojo in 1931. In 1967, however, the original wooden building was replaced by a five-story concrete structure.
There are currently 32 teachers, besides the grandson of the founder, Moriteru Ueshiba, teaching at the Hombu Dojo. Meanwhile, Aikido has established itself in 140 countries throughout the world.
KenBuKai e.V. has been officially recognized by the Aikikai Hombu Dojo since 2014 as an Aikido association in Germany which teaches and trains in the art of Aikido according to the rules and regulations of the Aikido Foundation as well as the principles of its founder, Morihei Ueshiba.
